Speakers

Anthony has close to 30 years of private and public corporate experience in numerous high-growth industries, spanning technology, media and telecoms, natural resources and specialty chemicals, and more recently the energy transition sectors, in particular the electric vehicle and lithium battery value chain. His roles have been predominantly in senior management, with a focus on strategy and development, M&A and corporate finance internationally – he has managed businesses and operations across four continents spanning Greater China and Asia region, Australia, North and South America.

Biotech Panel: Navigating the Biotech Investment Landscape

Amid a robust pipeline of medical breakthroughs, emerging biotech companies must navigate a complex capital markets environment to bring transformative therapies to market. An examination of the 2025 investment landscape, the sub-sectors attracting “smart money”, and the impact of market volatility on investor sentiment. Experts will share key investment decision-making parameters, and the strategies companies must employ to secure capital, with insights from both investors and CEOs successfully navigating this environment.

Moderator

Jane is the Founder and Managing Director of IR Department, a specialist investor relations, public relations, issues management and ESG consultancy. Through the past 20 years, she has worked with hundreds of clients, listed and unlisted, from micro-caps to ASX top 50 and has a strong network of domestic and international investor and media contacts. She loves the transactional aspect of investor relations and has supported clients with capital raises, IPOs and licensing transactions, valued at more than $1b. Outside of her consultancy, she is an Investment Committee Member for BioNSW and a mentor to emerging companies through the SBE accelerator program and March Collective advisory group.

Earlier in her career, Jane led investor communications at Buchan Consulting (now WE Communications), was head of IR / PR at Geodynamics Limited, and was a founding member of IRM, where she drove electronic strategies for listed companies. Her awarded and recognised leadership and industry impact continue to shape Australia’s investor relations landscape.

Angus is the Chief Investment Officer of MWP Partners, a Hong Kong–based investment management firm. Angus oversees MWP’s investment strategies with a focus on building high-conviction portfolios across public and private global equities.

He has over a decade investment experience including Hedge Funds and Venture Capital where he was previously a Partner at IMS Digital Ventures, where he specialized in blockchain, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and fintech. Earlier in his career, Angus spent eight years as a Senior Analyst at EFM Asset Management, a Hong Kong–based hedge fund, specialising in the healthcare and technology sectors. Prior to this, he worked in Sydney and Hong Kong as a Strategy Analyst at the Commonwealth Bank, focused on digital banking emerging markets.

Angus holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney.

Bettina is a biotech entrepreneur and investor. She has been investing in healthcare companies for the past 10 years. She also serves on the board of several early-stage biotech companies on the board of the Swiss Biotech Association, and as a member of the advisory board of the Swiss Entrepreneur Fund and of the Innovation Council of Innosuisse. Bettina is a co-founder of two biotech companies.

Prior to her investment and entrepreneurial activities, she worked for 10 years in fundamental immunology in the US (Scripps Research Institute, San Diego, CA) and in Europe.

Bettina holds a PhD in immunology and an undergraduate degree in natural science from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. She resides in Switzerland.

Charles is a translational biomedical engineer with a strong background in business development. His passion is in building a vibrant biotech ecosystem through integrating stakeholders across academia, finance, youth development, philanthropy, and public policy. He has deep experience in biotechnology consulting, university knowledge transfer, and in MNC pharma medical affairs. He now heads Ryoden Medical where he oversees healthcare and biotech venture investments for his family office. He also co-founded Incando Therapeutics and Cere Ventures to bring innovative brain and healthy aging related developments to the market and leads a versatile team experienced in clinical and regulatory affairs.

Charles currently serves as Chair of Biomedical Engineering Departmental Advisory Council and Adjunct Professor in Biomedical Sciences at the City University of Hong Kong, Vice Chairman to the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, Director of the Asian Fund for Cancer Research Limited, committee member to the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association, the Hong Kong Trade & Development Council ASGH steering committee, the Hong Kong Innovation & Technology Commission ITF assessment panel, the HK Tech 300 Angel Fund selection panel, and the Hong Kong Baptist University Entrepreneurship Fund vetting committee, and advisor to several investment firms.

Charles received his PhD in Tissue Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, BS in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and has been awarded the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Greater Bay Area Most Talented Young Entrepreneur Award with the Best Technology Innovation Distinction in 2023.

Paul is recognised as a leading authority in drug development and has been involved in a number of pre-clinical and clinical trial programs over his accomplished career. He was the inaugural COO of Mesoblast and most recently Executive VP, New Product Development at Mesoblast Ltd. Paul has extensive experience in commercialising Intellectual Property.

Moderator

Dannika is Founder & Principal of Investability, a Sydney IR consultancy specialising in the representation of small-cap natural resources companies. Dannika has 15+ years in capital markets at Citi, GMP Securities and boutique advisory. Since founding Investability in 2020, she has led IR programs for countless metals and mining companies across ASX, LSE and TSV, including supporting over A$650m in equity raisings. She is a qualified ASX Designated Trading Representative and holds a BCom (Hons) and MAppFin (Women in Mining scholarship). Dannika is an active investor and has a deep passion for the industry.

Jorge is a Mexican mining entrepreneur and investor based in Hong Kong. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Emerging Markets Capital, an investment firm based in Hong Kong investing primarily in mining exploration equities listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Having spent the majority of his career in Asia, Jorge has founded a number of businesses with Asian Capital doing business in North America. Jorge is the CEO and Founder of Reyna Silver, a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company with silver exploration projects in Mexico and the US.

Jorge currently serves on the boards of Sierra Madre Gold and Silver and Arabian Shield Resources. He is a former director of Prime Mining and a Director of Garra Esports, a private company looking to build an Esports business in Latin America.

Prior to founding Emerging Markets Capital, Jorge worked for Frontier Securities, a Japanese-owned investment advisory and securities brokerage. He was part of the natural resources investments advisory team, advising and capital raising for mining and infrastructure companies with projects in Mongolia looking for investors in Asia and the Middle East.

Jorge was a founding member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and a Founder of the Silver Council of Asia.

Jorge holds a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, an MBA in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Norman graduated from University of Toronto, majoring in Finance and Economics. He worked for Point72 Asset Management (HK) during 2011-2021 and was responsible for China macro research and long/short equity investment, covering material stocks in A/H share, including steel, coal, cement, glass, paper, non-ferrous metals, precious metals and new energy.

Previously Norman worked in CICC as a macro analyst from 2009-2010 and worked in PWC as a senior auditor from 2006-2009.

Samson joined the Dutch mining fund Commodity Discovery in 2021 as an analyst. He is a well-known figure in the Chinese mining circle. In August 2020, he launched his personal newsletter, ‘The Solidus Investment Newsletter’ on Pateron. Previously, he spent seven years as the Senior Metals Analyst at Refinitiv Metals Research, a role which enabled him to establish his presence in the Chinese mining industry. Before joining Refinitiv, Samson was the Chief Analyst for eight years at an asset management firm in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for managing the company’s portfolio of global mining equities and was able to outperform the benchmark during the entire period.

Samson is an active contributor on various Western & Chinese social media platforms, and a regular guest speaker at industrial events organized by Ignite Parnters, China International Mining, World Platinum Investment Council, and various Chinese investment banks. He is widely followed by global equities and commodities traders on Twitter.

Kevin is an Associate Director at InvestorHub, where he has played a significant role in pioneering the direct-to-investor model now used by more than 180+ listed companies across Australia and the UK. With a background in capital markets strategy, investor engagement, and corporate advisory, he has been instrumental in scaling InvestorHub from its origins into a category-defining platform. Kevin is also Director of Monument Metals, a copper exploration company advancing pre-discovery assets in Arizona, alongside his own public and private mining investments.

Scott is a Mining Engineer with a Commerce degree from the West Australian School of Mines and Curtin University. Mr Williamson started his career as an underground mining engineer in the goldfields of Western Australia. Mr Williamson has recent experience in equity capital markets with previous roles as a Resources Analyst at Hartleys and Investor Relations Manager at Resolute Mining. Mr Williamson has a unique blend of experience in mining and finance with both corporate and technical capabilities.

Faheem is a mining entrepreneur with professional experience in capital markets and corporate finance and has led numerous successful listed transactions. Faheem holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Project Management degree and has over 7 years of experience in project evaluation, asset management, data analysis, lifecycle cost analysis and risk modelling, including projects in the fields of mining, infrastructure, health and transport. He is also currently serving on the board of Viridis Mining and Minerals (ASX: VMM) as a non-executive director.
Bob has more than 40 years’ experience in the mining industry, working throughout the Americas. After spending more than 15 years with major mining companies, Bob held several senior management positions in the junior mining sector and co-founded Great Panther Mining Limited, a mid-tier precious metals producer. He served as President & CEO of Great Panther from 2004-2017 and Director until 2020 and joined Newrange Gold Corp. as a Director in March 2018 followed by his appointment as CEO in January 2019 and President in October 2021. Bob is a Professional Geologist and holds an Honours BSc from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario.
